Cool people are good at torrenting. You don’t want to be uncool, do you?

The US government recently got a court order demanding Twitter turn over IP addresses and emails of a number of  people associated with the  Wikileaks scandal. Along with this court order they issued a gag order saying that Twitter couldn’t reveal the existence of this court order. In particular, they could not inform the people against whom this subpoena was issued, preventing these people from challenging the subpoena in court.

Twitter took this to court, won the case and was able to tell everyone about what had happened. A small victory for freedom of information.
